Gen Dikovic at the Balkan CHODs conference



Serbian CHOD General Ljubisa Dikovic attended the 7th Balkan countries CHODds Conference , held in Tirana. The conference was opened by Chief of General Staff of the armed forces of Albania, Major General Jamal Djunkshi, and the participants were addressed by the President of the Republic of Albania Bujar Aim.

This year's conference discussed the estimates for possible asymmetric threats in the region and promoting mutual military cooperation between Balkan countries. Furthermore, the participants talked about  holding future joint activities, primarily in the areas of military education, joint international military training and exercises.

General Dikovic led separate talks with General Djunkshi, as well as the Chief of Staff of the Bulgarian Armed Forces Gen. Simeon Simeonov and Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Lieutenant General Walter Gaskin.

Conference of the Balkan CHODs is an important initiative to strengthen military cooperation in the region. Member countries of the initiative are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro, while representatives of the NATO Military Committee and the EU Military Committee, and deputy chief of staff of the armed forces of Croatia and Slovenia attended the conference as guests of the conference in Tirana, in addition to representatives of these countries. This conference only proves the importance of regional military cooperation and good-neighborly relations among Balkan countries to maintain and strengthen a stable security environment in the region and Europe.
