Minister Vucic meets with Westerwelle



First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic welcomed today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Guido Westerwelle at the Belgrade Airport.

Welcoming the delegation, Minister Vucic said that "he knew what Germany’s requirements would be" and that guests will be interested to know what can be done regarding the implementation and the Brussels Treaty in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as regarding Serbia's EU integrations. In addition to answering these questions, minister Vucic said, we have our own issues that are crucial for the country and for our citizens.

- For us the progress of Serbia and the Serbian economy and foreign investment in country are of paramount importance - said the Minister Vucic remarking that he would insist that Germany, as the most powerful country in the EU provides greater support and assist the development of Serbia. According to him, our country will open up and adopt regulations that will attract more investment yet will be European in every aspect while obeying the law. The minister also expressed his certainty that Germany would help our country on this path.

Speaking about the importance of today's meeting, Minister Westerwelle said that this was a historic moment for Serbia adding that Germany wants to help Serbia now make the right decision in the European spirit and to improve the economic development of both countries.

- We are deeply convinced that the best part of our future still lies ahead as our countries are European countries, they are part of Europe, which is a partnership of equal partners - said German foreign affairs minister, adding that he wants to contribute to difficult and painstaking negotiations, which culminated in signing the historic agreement on the 19th April, to be successful.

He said that Germany wants Serbia to proceed on its European path by expressing his belief that it is the interest of all European countries, but even more so is in the best interest of Serbia and its citizens.
