Meeting of Analytical Group for the Implementation of Resolution 1325



At the Central Military Club today, under the auspices of the Public Relations Department, the 11th Meeting of the Analytical Group of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces was held to analyze the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 which affirms the role and place of women in the security sector and gender responsible personnel policy.

Greeting the audience, Head of the Public Relations Department, Colonel Petar Boskovic said that the proportion of women in the organizational unit managed by him is more than 75 percent, and that there has been done a lot in the system when it comes to gender mainstreaming.

- There was no issue of Odbrana journal where one of the topics was not women. There was no guest appearance on television, whether it is an "Open Door" campaign or campaign for the Military Academy or the Military Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine, that the women were not present, as Colonel Boskovic pointed out, adding that the boundary between the male and female jobs is being removed.

According to Dr Biljana Stojkovic, Head of the Analytical Group, this project has been formatted for the period from 2010 to 2015, and the Analytical Group of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces wais the first such body to be created in the security sector, in April 2011.

- At the same time, with its 22 members, it is the largest analytical group in the Republic of Serbia and it is very professionally represented, with many holders of PhD and MSc degrees, as well as senior officers, and a member of our Analytical Group is also the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Biljana Babic.

The today's meeting was marked by ongoing gender analysis for the period January – June 2013, which is a regular task of the Group. Activities within the competence of different organizational units of the Group were subject to review and assessment of the level of their accomplishment.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the UN Women Entity, an organization that, according to the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Defence Ministry and that Entity, provides active support to the work of the Analytical Group.
