Visiting the site of the track and field stadium at the Military Academy
Delegation of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Athletics Federation of Serbia visited today the construction site of the track and field stadium at the Military Academy. On this occasion, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic stressed the importance of this project and its contribution to promotion of sports, not only in the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence, but also in the whole country.
- The Ministry of Defence has supported the initiative for construction of the track and field stadium and is always ready to help when it comes to sports. From our perspective, we are helping by giving infrastructure and this is the best site that could be found in the city for construction of a track and field stadium, State Secretary Djordjevic said.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports Alisa Maric, it is the most important sports project this year, for which the Ministry of Youth and Sports has allocated 480 million dinars.
President of the Athletics Federation of Serbia Veselin Jevrosimovic thanked the ministries of defence and youth and sports for their help in construction of the track and field stadium.
- This is an example of how the two ministries should cooperate when it comes to the interests of Serbian sports. The track and field stadium is a historical facility on which our athletics has been waiting for decades. We hope that this is the realisation of dreams of our athletes, because for maximum results it is expected to have the best conditions for training, Jevrosimovic said. The whole project of building the track and field stadium consists of five functional areas – track with fighting area and protective space, space for audience with the amenities including special section for people with disabilities, then administrative part with offices for staff and meeting rooms, space for athletes, judges and coaches, where dressing rooms for the disabled , as well as technical block will be especially constructed.
