"Open Day" in the First Training Centre



In the First Training Centre, in the Sombor barracks "Airport", the traditional "Open Day" campaign has been organized today. Wishing to learn about the life and work of the members of the Centre, a number of young people, students in elementary and secondary schools, as well as the older age visitors from Sombor, Apatin and the surrounding areas, from the morning until midday hours, went through the wide-open gate of the barracks.

Lieutenant Colonel Lazar Ostojic, Commander of the First Training Centre welcomed the guests pointing out that the "Open Day" campaign is a unique opportunity for the citizens to get closely acquainted with the military and professional military career, but at the same time to socialize and make acquaintances with fellow citizens in uniform.

Numerous visitors of almost all ages were presented weapons and equipment that members of the First Training Centre have, starting from howitzers, mortars, combat police vehicles to personal and small arms. Through overcoming infantry obstacles, segments of physical training were presented, and the biggest applause was given to the soldiers on voluntary military service who made effective performance of parts of martial arts.

There was also a demonstration of the elements of drill of service dogs performed by the members of the Company for dog handler training, breeding and drill of dogs from the Nis Logistics Training Centre, and they fulfilled the wish of the youngest visitors to be photographed with trained German and Belgian Shepherds. The crowd was gathered also around the stand with military dinner and the youngest ones, after enjoying the observation of military skills, indulged in a sweet snack.

During the "Open Day" campaign in Sombor barracks "Airport", members of the Sombor Red Cross Youth Club presented their skills demonstrating the exercise in providing first aid.
