Laying wreaths at the Monument to pilots who died in 1941

On the occasion of marking the Memorial Day for the beginning of the Second World War in Yugoslavia, the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic laid a wreath at the Monument to pilots killed in the April War in 1941, at the Zemun quay near the "Yugoslavia" hotel.

The delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces included also the Air Force and Air Defence Commander Major General Ranko Zivak and Deputy Commander of Training Command, Major General Mladjen Nisevic.

Wreaths were also laid by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, City of Belgrade, NGOs and family members.

Aggression against Yugoslavia began on 6 April 1941 by unannounced early morning bombing of the city, in which many civilians were killed. During the 12 days of April war, the superior enemy was also opposed by the pilots of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia who downed several German aircraft in an air battle, on the very first day.
