Sixth Conference of Defence Attachés of the Republic of Serbia



The 6th Annual Conference of Defence Attachés of the Republic of Serbia is being held in the House of Guard in Topcider, Belgrade, from 25 March to 29 March this year, to assess the work of military diplomatic representatives and define priorities for the forthcoming period.

After the welcome address by Director of Military Intelligence Agency, Brigadier General Dragan Vladisavljevic, the speakers were the Adviser to the President of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Nikolic, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Diković, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vera Mavric and Assistant Ministers for Defence Policy and for Material Resources, Miroslav Jovanovic and Jasminka Todorov. They introduced the military diplomatic representatives to the activities within their responsibilities, presented plans for the forthcoming period, but also the expectations of Defence Attaches in the implementation of international activities.

General Vladisavljevic said that the goal of the Conference is the analysis of the results of the work of Defence Attaché's Offices and giving directions to improve the quality of work.

State Secretary Nikolic said that Defence Attaché's Offices are making a significant contribution to building the reputation of the Ministry and the Serbian Armed Forces at the international and domestic levels. He pointed out that in advocating the interests of Serbia internationally, engagement of defence attachés has a special place in promoting the defence system reform, bilateral military cooperation, especially military economic cooperation.

Chief of General Staff briefed the defence attachés about the most important activities of the Serbian Armed Forces, and on this occasion he pointed out to them that they can contribute with their activities to the Serbian Armed Forces and that they are exactly "the first line of defence''.
