Delegation of the Ministry of Defence in Indonesia



Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, led by Assistant Minister for Defence Miroslav Jovanovic, participates in the Third Jakarta International Defence Dialogue 2013, which takes place on 20 and 21 March 2013 in Jakarta, the Republic of Indonesia.

The meeting was opened by President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Judojono, in the presence of Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor - Leste, Xanana Gusmão.

The Third International Defence Dialogue brings together heads of states, governments, defence ministers, chiefs of defence and other senior officials from many countries. In addition to the states of the region of South East Asia and the Pacific, the gathering brought together representatives from Russia, the USA, China, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and other countries and international organizations (UN, EU, OSCE, ASEAN, NATO International Military Staff, NATO operational commands)

The theme of this year's dialogue, Defence and Diplomacy, will be discussed in six thematic sections: The Rise of Asia and New Geopolitics of the Asia-Pacific Region, Asian Influence – Economic Power, Defence and Diplomacy, Increasing Threats and Challenges in the Asia-Pacific Region, Turbulent Waters - Navy Challenges in the Asia-Pacific Region, Permeable Borders – Stronger Control and Cooperation and Modern Military – Growth Opportunities and Expansion of the Industry. "

During the International Conference, it has been planned that Assistant Minister Jovanovic has separate meetings with Defence Minister of the Republic of Indonesia, Purnomo Jusgiantor, as well as senior representatives of the Indonesian Armed Forces, and by the end of this meeting there will be several bilateral meetings held with heads of delegations of other countries.

Bearing in mind that in the coming period in Jakarta there will be opened the Defence Attaché's Office of the Republic of Serbia, participation of the delegation will be a great opportunity for further development and intensification of defence cooperation with this country.
