Cooperation of Serbia and Angola



First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic met today in Luanda with the Angolan Defense Minister General Candido Pereira dos Santos Van Dunem.

In front of the Angolan Ministry of Defence, after a reception with state honours, the two delegations began discussions on the implementation cooperation projects between Serbia and the Republic of Angola.

It is planned to start the construction of military hospitals, the construction of the medical logistics chain as well as the factory for medical equipment, rehabilitation and construction of military bases in Lubango as well as a short, medium and long-term training of Angolan military personnel in the field of military science and medicine.

During the talks, the importance of building a military hospital in Angola was emphasized, the aim of which will be to provide specialized medical services, and to facilitate the development of research capacity.

Furthermore, in the area of training of military personnel in particular, the importance educating Angolan military personnel in the field of military science, specialization in all branches of the Army, Air Force and Air Defence was stressed, along with the tactical, operational-tactical and operational-strategic level.

"The reform of the security sector is one of the priorities of the Republic of Angola and so we count on your help. Serbia is a reliable partner for this and many other tasks," said General Van Dunem.

During the meeting, a Protocol on the education of Angolan cadets in the military-educational institutions in the Republic of Serbia was signed, while the need for the earliest possible appointment of a DA was also pointed out.

"We are ready to work together on achieving faster development of our relations in the field of defense, economic development, but also in other spheres of social life. Serbia is a European country, but we want to renew old friendships, " as Vucic stated, at the end of the meeting.

In Luanda two ministers will sign a joint statement on the talks between the delegations of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Angola on Wednesday.

It is expected that the first deputy prime minister and defense minister Aleksandar Vucic will be received in an official audience by the President of Angola Jose Eduardo dos Santos.
