Minister congratulates the Day of the Republic of Serbia



To all members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces I extend heartfelt congratulations on occasion of the 15th February – the Day of the Republic of Serbia.

This day was celebrated as Independence Day until the creation of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croats and Slovenians and again has been celebrated since 2002, which symbolized the Republic of Serbia’s return to its history and traditions. Also on this day, the Principality of Serbia adopted the first Constitution when two empires, Russia and Austria did not have their own constitutions. This is another indication that Serbia has always strived to develop into a modern, European-oriented country.

A modern state needs a modern military to be a factor of stability in the country and the region, a reliable partner in peacekeeping missions, and an important pillar for all citizens of the Republic of Serbia.

I am confident that the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces can only improve with their professionalism and responsibility the defense system and build a modern army which will thus continue to be an institution the citizens of Serbia trust most.

I congratulate you this holiday and wish you success in your future work.
