Saint Sava's Day Celebrated in the Military Grammar School



Military Grammar School in Belgrade marked today the school patron Saint's day – the St. Sava's Day, in honour of Saint Sava, the founder of education in Serbia and the first Serbian archbishop.

The ceremonial cake was broken by Bishop of Hvostan Atanasije (Rakita), in the presence of Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Jovan Mijakovic, Commandant of the Military Academy, Major General Mladen Vuruna and the Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Milete Radojevic.

In his greeting of the hosts and their guests from the Sports High School who celebrated together, he pointed out that St. Sava have been visiting all schools in which he visits his spiritual children.

- He comes to make sure that they are on the right track, to see if they have become discouraged, if they are safe and sound and to lift them up and breathe new life to them – Bishop said and pointed at the ceremonial cake as a symbol of unity of all the Serbs, which unites many grains dispersed in various fields.

Deputy Commandant of the Military Academy Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Jovanovic, thanking to the guests for their presence, said that the ideas of St. Sava doctrine bind us to cherish true values and preserve our culture.

At the celebration of patron Saint's Day, which was also attended by heads of departments of the Ministry of Defence, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces, state and local governments, the guests were also addressed by this year's young host Aleksa Ivkovic.
