General Dikovic in Brussels



SAF CHOD Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic participated in the meeting of CHODS of the the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Military Committee, which was held in Brussels yesterday.

The main topics of the meeting were possibilities regarding the development of ways of addressing new security challenges and building military capabilities.

Some of the key points of discussion were proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and preventing, the fight against terrorism, cyber and energy safety

While considering the construction of military capabilities, such topics as education, training and exercises, concept and program of operational capabilities were also discussed.

As part of international military cooperation, Serbian Armed Forces place great emphasis on training, participation in international exercises and training of its members in various forms of education in the country and abroad. For 2013 alone it is expected that SAF will participate in 21 international and 12 joint exercises training abroad, as well as holding 15 joint exercises and training in Serbia.

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces support the exchange of national training capacity, as an efficient and cost-effective approach to improving the training and development of military capabilities.

General Dikovic had a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) General Patrick de Rousiers and Volker Wieker, the Chief of Defence of the Bundeswehr (the German armed forces). During the meeting they exchanged views on enhancing their cooperation in the defense field. The meeting between General Dikovic and general Viker was the first bilateral meeting between the CHODs of the two countries.


General Dikovic also met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Armed Forces General Valery Gerasimov and invited him to visit this year the Republic of Serbia, while General Gerasimov returned the invitation to General Dikovic to visit the Russian Federation.
