Minister Vucic and general Diković visited a "Jug" and "Dobrosin" military bases



First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic and SAF CHOD Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic visited the members of the Serbian Armed Forces deployed in bases'' Jug'' and'''' Dobrosin.

The tour of the Serbian Army in the Ground Safety Zone began “by visiting bases Jug" in Bujanovac. During their visit, they also visited the "Dobrosin" military base where they were greeted by commander of the Fourth Army Brigade Commander Brigadier General Milosav Simovic who briefed them on the security situation in GSZ and members of the military activities in the area.

General Simovic said that in the area of responsibility of the 4th Army Brigade that the security situation was stable, but sensitive, and in recent years the biggest security threat to the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija, in addition to periodic attacks on police checkpoints were cases of people trafficking and cattle and illegal logging.

In the area of responsibility of the Fourth Brigade of the last armed attacks on police took place last year, when a police checkpoint near the village of Dobrosin attacked on three occasions, explained General Simovic. According to him, the latest attack on a military base Dobrosin occurred in 2003. , and members of the gendarmerie in that area last attacked 2009th year.

General Simovic said that the Fourth Army Brigade has good cooperation with the security services, the police and the gendarmerie, as well as with international forces in Kosovo and Metohija, which are organized with synchronized patrols along the administrative line.
The army, he said, cooperates with the local population, primarily, providing medical assistance and providing medicines, and engineering units have contributed to the improvement of local infrastructure by reconstructing and renewing more than 60 kilometers of roads in the previous two years.

Minister Vucic and General Dikovic saw a demonstration of a response action of the intervention department in case of an attack on an army patrol.

Minister Vucic said he was pleased with the operational functionality and capabilities of the Army of Serbia shows the security zone in southern Serbia.

- The Serbian Army fulfills its tasks, and our job is to ensure peace and to be a force for stability in this part of Serbia while the military are doing their job in a professional, responsible and serious way as minister Vucic remarked, adding that members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense will receive special prizes for their dedicated work and efforts.

According to him, the most important is that members of the defense system continue to perform their work as before, as the Albanian population are our neighbours so one of the tasks is helping local people wherever needed.


- No one will be allowed nor can anyone threaten the state of Serbia. We want peace, respect, and we will always have, like them, to live together with their neihbours, Albanians, and it is important that people understand this because there will be fewer hotheads – as minister remarked stressing that the Serbian Army is a stabilizing factor that is always ready to protect the state of Serbia.
He also pointed out that during the visit they could see the level of combat readiness in military bases in Serbia "Dobrosin" and "South", and expressed satisfaction at the accommodation facilities in the database "South".

- We will improve all of our infrastructure facilities in and around the “Jug" base while at same time I must say I am very proud to see how well "Dobrosin" military base is equipped and the combat readiness of soldiers there so it is quite obvious that there is no reason for any objections to the conduct of our military. At the same time, the work of the Serbian Armed Forces is to protect the Constitution of Serbia - said the Minister Vucic.
