Noblest deed of the year



Awards for "The most noble achievement," which daily "Vecernje novosti" awards were presented today in the City Hall to those who were the bravest in 2012.

Major Goran Savic was given a posthumous award. Pilot Savic tired until the last moment to stop the plane from reaching the town centre, thus sacrificing his life to save others. Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic gave an award to his brother, Bojan Savic. The award was posthumously awarded the Helen Trikic, from Drvar. "Mother Courage" as she was nicknamed decided to give birth to son Nikola in spite of serious illness.

Noblest feat of 2012 was done by director Emir Kusturica by constructing Andric grad. The jury unanimously decided that Kusturica is an artist who constructed a masterpiece in Visegrad, thus marking half a century since the famous Nobel Prize writer Ivo Andric with this architectural wonder.

Gold medal for the noblest collective accomplishment was given to the crew of "Greben", an icebreaker that in extreme cold during last winter managed to save Smederevo from floods. Gold Medal for children's achievement was given to nine-year old Danica Zoric from Bozetic for taking care of her father and two brothers ever since their mother left them.

In the year of the jubilee "Novosti" have awarded special medals to the folloewing – Neven Krnjojelac and Draza Vukovic , the high school students in Foca, Nemanja Beljic from Trstenik and Dusan Arsekic from Ivanjica to Novi Sad citizen Srdja Stolic who managed to help a severely wounded driver of " Lotus” bus Senad Becirovic from Novi Pazar thus preventing the bus 50 passengers to fall into the Sicevo canyon, and to Uzice citizen Rade Jezdicand firefighters from Vranje who Smiljevi?i rescued seven members of the Stankovic family from a snowy village.

Special plaques were also given to Dragovan Vukovic, with Suvobor, Mirsad Hodzic, Meho Ugljanin and minor Omer Hodzic from Gazebos, Dragan Kostadinovic from the village of Prekodolac, to citizens of Obrenovac and Fr Cyril. Among the winners are Miodrag Nikolic from California, an Italian writer and journalist Enrico Vinna, Arnoudt Guyon from Lyon and Milanka Kokotovic Javorina.

On the occasion of half a century of the "most noble accomplishments," "Vecernje Novosti" published a monograph "Golden People", dedicated to all the good and brave people.

Guests of the "News" in the traditional ceremonies were the most humane people in the past 49 years, winners of the award for the most noble achievement in Sarajevo, Cacak, Aleksinac, Sanski Most, Zurich, as well as the sons of Maksim Stojanovic, the first noblest Yugoslavian.

Members of the jury were Matija Beckovic - President, Academic Dusan Kovacevic, actress Tanja Boskovic, a former Supreme Court judge Zoran Ivosevic, fashion designer Verica Rakocevic, Head of the Military Medical Academy Brigadier General Marijan Novakovic, director Nebojsa Bradic actress Labor Djuricin, marksman Ivana Maksimovic, President of "Comtrade" company Veselin Jevrosimovic and general manager and chief editor of “Vecernje novosti" Manojlo Vukotic.
