Minister Vucic meets Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Spindelegger



First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic met with Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in the framework of the official visit of the Austrian delegation to our country.

On this occasion, Minister Vucic said he was pleased with the outcome of today's talks, and there were talks about Serbia's European path, bilateral relations and improvement of economic cooperation, Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the necessary reforms that our country needs to implement in order to meet the international standards in the fight against corruption and achieving legal standards for investment.

- Austria is one of the most important investors in our country, and I asked Mr Spindelegger to encourage Austrian investors to come to our country – Minister Vucic said sending a message that we the government would do everything to improve the investment environment, including a set of new laws that will provide favourable conditions for foreign companies could be expected soon.

When it comes to Serbia's European path, as Vucic said, Serbia knows its obligations and meets them, not because someone is pressuring it, but for its better future. Serbia will continue on its European path, he added, because it is best for its citizens.

Minister Vucic has also announced that he will represent Serbia at the upcoming UN Security Council session devoted to the Hague scheduled for 5 December, according to the decision of the state management.

According to the Austrian Vice-Chancellor Spindelegger, today's talks were focused on the future of Serbia and Austria, and the first important point was the issue of economic cooperation.

- Together we developed ideas to animate investors from Austria to invest more in Serbia and in this regard we would like to organize next spring Economic Forum in Vienna – Austrian Vice-Chancellor said, adding that there is room for more Austrian investments.

He also added that Austria, and he personally would support Serbia on its European path.

- In a particularly positive context, I wish to point out that Deputy Prime Minister Vucic in his fight against corruption finds positive response. This is supported in Austria and in the business community – Spindelegger pointed out wishing Minister Vucic to stay on that path.
