Minister Vucic at the security forum in Halifax, Canada
On the second day of the forum Minister Vucic met with the Canadian Minister of Defence and the host of the event Peter MacKay, with whom he discussed the promotion of cooperation between the two countries. They especially paid attention to the possibility of improving military-military and military-economic cooperation. Vucic and his Canadian counterpart suggested that Serbia should be allowed to export more small arms and ammunition to Canada, while McKay emphasized the need for educational training of Serbian officers with the support of the Canadian government in technical and financial terms.
Meanwhile, speaking on the situation in the region, Minister Vucic said that Serbia would meet and fulfill its international obligations, but that Serbian citizens were outraged with the decision of Hague Tribunal to acquit two Croatian generals.
Peter McKay stressed the importance of the presence of Minister Vucic at the security forum and said: "Serbia has huge potential, and the ties between our two countries are strong. As far as defense goes, we have the potential to do more. In the future, we need to deepen the ties between the two ministries. "
First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic also met today in Halifax with Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Germany Kristian Smith, and talked about in the European integration of Serbia and the Serbian-German bilateral relations.
