Cooperation with BIH in defence



State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Aleksandar Nikolic held political bilateral consultations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ana Trisic Babic. BiH delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives of the BiH Embassy in Belgrade.

During the talks the most important issues of bilateral and regional cooperation in the defense field were discussed

The importance of regional integration in finding solutions to the existing security challenges was emphasized. It was concluded that the Center for Security Cooperation RACVIAC contributes to the development and strengthening of regional security capacity and confidence building in the region of Southeast Europe in the field of security and defense. They agreed on the joint support of RACVIAC to improve its functioning. It was proposed to use RACVIAC capacities to implement certain proposals for enhanced regional security cooperation.

At the meeting it was agreed that the bilateral defense cooperation to a very good level and that there is room for improvement. The connection between foreign policy and defense policy activities was confirmed as well as the security in the function of developing and promoting regional cooperation and creating favorable conditions for joint investment projects. It was agreed to continue consultations at the expert level in order to define further forms of cooperation in the defense field.

It was also stressed that the responsibility for security in the region was just a matter of agreement, and in this context, governments in the region should in a transparent way make progress in bilateral and regional cooperation in the defense field. The fight against corruption, organized crime, demographic questions, as well as emergency situations were discussed as a proposal for future partnership
