Integrity building projects



As part of participation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia in NATO’s initiative to build integrity and reduce the risk of corruption, the NATO delegation for construction projects in the area of integrity with the Ministry of Defence held a meeting in Belgrade. The meeting was led by Deputy Minister for Defence Miroslav Jovanovic.

NATO delegation for projects in the field of building integrity included ambassador to NATO projects in building integrity, Jan Lukas Van Horn, and NATO advisor in the Department of Political Affairs and Security Policy, Dr. Olivia F. Desarzen. In addition to representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief of the NATO Military Liaison Office, Colonel Nikolaos Saridakis, advisor to NATO Military Liaison Office, Tijana Andric, the representative of the OSCE Mission in Belgrade, Vladimir Bilandzic, and the UNDP / SEESAK in Belgrade, Ivan Zverzhanovski .

The meeting was realized for the purpose of consultation and agreement of the document "Serbia - self-assessment of building integrity, the report of the expert team of NATO."

The document is a starting point for further development of the integrity of state institutions, especially the Ministry of Defence.

In addition to a comprehensive analysis of the situation in the Ministry of Defense, during the stay in the Republic of Serbia, NATO delegation for project construction in the area of integrity, had meetings with representatives of the Judiciary Committee, Public Administration and Local Self-Government of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, as well as with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a preliminary conclusion, Ambassador to NATO projects in building integrity, Jan Lukas Van Horn expressed his satisfaction with enormous efforts that were made by the representatives of the Ministry of Defense, to the detailed analysis of the area of operation of the system, which ensures the legality of all institutions, creating conditions and that the Ministry of Defense, headed by Aleksandar Vucic, first deputy prime minister in charge of the fight against corruption and organized crime, and the Minister of Defense, is a leading force in establishing the legality of the work of all institutions in the state.

Implementation of activities during the visit was analyzed by representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the United Nations and NATO Military Liaison Office in Belgrade. They expressed full satisfaction with the effectiveness of the work of both teams that participated in the drafting of the report of Serbia in the field of building integrity.

The report of the NATO expert team on building integrity and reducing the risk of corruption, transparency in the work of the Ministry of Defence will be made public on the website of the Ministry of Defence.
