Open Day in 250th Missile Brigade



Members of the 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces organised a traditional campaign "Open Day" in the "Banjica" barracks. The goal of this campaign is to provide visitors a closer insight into the official duties and responsibilities of this unit, and the Armed Forces in general. The guests were mostly the students of Belgrade elementary and secondary schools, as well as fans of air defence forces.

"Apart from the 250th Missile Brigade, three more units from the Serbian Armed Forces participated in the campaign and these are the 126th Air Reconnaissance, Early Warning and Guidance Brigade, Signal Brigade and 210th Signal Battalion", the commander of the 250th Missile Brigade, Brigadier General Dusko Zarkovic pointed out, noting that this year's campaign has even greater significance because of the Jubilee and marking 50 years of the existence of that unit.

"We presented the weapons which are used in these units, and this is a cutting-edge technology at our disposal. Some of the exposed weapons, such as missile system NEVA, were modernized, which have improved their features and operational capabilities of units. Modernization of CUB system is also underway and its completion is expected by the end of this year or early next year", General Žarkovi? pointed out. On the "Open Day", combat work of the units was also demonstrated.

Among the guests 250th Missile Brigade, there were also actors of the popular television series "Military Academy", who used the nice day to hang out with their admirers within the premises of Banjica barracks.

"It's always a great experience to attend activities organized by the Serbian Armed Forces both in Belgrade and elsewhere in Serbia. This is not the first "Open Day" that we attended. Any action like this gives us the opportunity to hang out with our admirers and fans of the series, but also to learn more about the Armed Forces", the young actor of the series "Military Academy ", Radovan Vujovic, said announcing the beginning of filming for the second season in March next year.

"We are to expect more attractive, richer content, new stories, some new characters, everything for which a short break was made in order to provide the highest quality to the audience," Vujovic said.

Visitors to the "Open Day" toured also the memorial room of the 250th Missile Brigade, where they learned more about the history and tradition of the unit.

The 250th Rocket Brigade is a unit composed of all units of the Serbian Armed Forces armed with medium-range missile systems, and is responsible for the air defence of the entire territory of the Republic of Serbia. Brigade units are deployed in Belgrade, Nis, Kragujevac and Novi Sad, and have NEVA and CUB rocket systems.
