OPCW Delegation Visits Centre for upgrading CBRN skills



CBRN Personnel Training Centre in the "Car Lazar" barracks in Krusevac was visited by the delegation of the Organisation for Prohibition of the Chemical Weapons (OPCW). Members of the delegation, Deputy Director-General of the OPCW Grace Amal Asirwatham and the director of the Inspectorate Marsels Kos Silvier Campos were received by the Commander of the Training Command, Brigadier General Dusan Stojanovic and CBRN PTC Commander, Colonel Slobodan Savic.

Training Command Commander, Brigadier General Dusan Stojanovic expressed his appreciation for the visit of the high delegation of the OPCW, which is one of the most active organizations of the United Nations. On this occasion he said that this visit is the recognition of the Training Command and CBRN PTC which has been supporting the activities of this organisation since 2004.

General Stojanovic said that there are plans under which CBRN PCT will be transformed into a "Regional CBRN Center" which would be fully operational for the purpose of the countries in the region. Signed agreements with the OPCW on the long-term cooperation in the field of CBRN, the Czech Republic and agreement in preparation with the Republic of Austria are evidence that the PCT is recognized internationally whic was agreed with by the Deputy Director-General of the OPCW Grace Amal Asirwatham.

During the meeting, the members of the delegation were presented the Centre, and during the visit they made a tour of the part of the infrastructure (classrooms for IT, chemical weapons, nuclear weapons, CBR protection and decontamination, didactic cabinet and RC laboratory).

Members of the delegation visited the facility "Ravnjak", where they were introduced to the activities in training exercises of OPCW inspectors, and the church "Lazarica" in Krusevac.

The aim of the visit to the centre and the facility of "Ravnjak" was a tour and introducing to the joint activities in connection with the exercise of the OPCW Inspectorate "The investigation into the case of alleged use of chemical weapons", which has been implemented from 8-19 October this year in Krusevac. The responsible authority for implementing the exercise is OPCW, and members of the Centre provided logistical and technical support for the implementation of that activity.
