Bilateral exercise "Neighbours 2012" ends



In Pancevo barracks "Nacionalni heroj Stevica Jovanovic" an international bilateral exercise "Neighbours 2012" (prepared by members of the Serbian Army and the Armed Forces of Hungary), performing procedures to prepare for participation in peacekeeping operations was held today.

Over the last few days, members of the First Brigade of the Army of the Serbian Army and the Fifth Brigade "Istvan Bocskai" of the Hungarian Armed Forces were practiced the engagement of the firing squad in the UN peacekeeping mission.

The exercise was attended by the commander of the First Brigade, Brigadier General Djokica Petrovic and Fifth Brigade, Brigadier General Gabor Borundi, both of them on this occasion agreeing in their assessment that the exercise had been successfully and expertly performed, and that the operational capabilities which were upgraded through exercise, could be successfully used in UN missions.

The organizer and host of the exercises was the First Army Brigade, and it is a third joint exercise between the two countries since 2010, during which cooperation, mutual trust had been enhanced, where both armies gained new experiences.

Preparations for the exercise were performed from February, and part of the knowledge acquired in previous exercises, the members of the First Brigade had already implemented in the peacekeeping mission in Cyprus.
