Meeting of CHODs of Serbia and the Czech Republic



Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Ljubisa Dikovic met with Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic Lieutenant-General Petr Pavel who led the Czech delegation in an official visit to our country.

Speaking about the importance of today's meeting, General Dikovi? pointed out that that today cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence is diversified, especially in the field of CBRN, military education and logistics.

- Since 2002, more than two hundred Serbian officers and NCOs have completed different courses in the Czech Republic. All this provides a basis for promoting our military bilateral cooperation, but also the future requires pooling wherever there are common interests –General Dikovi? said pointing out that the idea is to pool forces and there will surely be found common ground on which to base cooperation.

According to General Pavel, on the basis of tradition in the field of military cooperation, new areas and ways for its improvement are being found.

- These are the areas of peacekeeping and engagement in the European Union battle groups, where we can share our experiences – General Pavel said.

General Dikovi? is also recalled that the cooperation with the Czech Republic has traditionally been at high level, adding that the first superintendent of the Military Academy founded in 1850 was a Czech, Frantisek Alexandr Zach, who later became the first Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army.

During their visit, the Czech delegation will visit the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations, and Special Brigade.
