Commemoration for Major Goran Savic



In the Air Force Club in Zemun a commemoration on occasion of the tragic death of Major Goran Savic, who died in the plane crash in Nova Pazova yesterday, was held today. The commemoration, in addition to family members, was attended by Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Chief of the Serbian Army Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic with members of the senior staff, members of the Technical Test Center and friends of the killed pilot.

The director of the Technical Test Center Col. Slobodan Ilic, PhD spoke about his colleague. He said that Savic had a brilliant officer’s career which he started in the 242nd fighter-bomber aviation squadron, he reached his pinnacle by becoming the factory test pilot, while working as officer for flight safety in the flights department of the Technical Test Center.

- In addition to the demanding duties of pilot, Major Goran Savic performed other duties as the flight instructor, department commander and assistant navigation commander. He also worked on the development of flight simulator for aircraft "Utva-75", "Galeb" and "Supergaleb," as well as amateur radio operator - said Colonel Ilic.

Director of TOC recalled that out of three solo performances at the recent "Batajnica 2012" air show, Savic performed one on the plane "Supergaleb" and that his performance impressed all who watched the event.

He was a quiet and calm man. He was never frustrated or short-tempered always take upon himself the responsibility of others. He was always friendly and willing to forgive. Never making a hasty decision, he always consulted with his colleagues first, said Ilic, finally pointing out that Major Goran Savic "flew and became part of eternal celestial squadron of pilots, crowned with glory and honor of the profession, living forever in our lives."

On behalf of the members of the 50th class of the Military Academy Lt. Col. Goran Radosavljevic paid his respect and gave an eulogy for his dead classmate. He said that Savic was famous as an amateur radio operator adding that his applications for flight simulator were even included by "Microsoft" included in its official-flight simulators.

Major Savic’s family - wife Gordana and sons Andreja and Stefan received telegrams of condolences from the President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic.


BIOGRAPHY
Major Goran Savic was born to father Mijailo and mother Radmila on 5 December 1973 in Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina). After completing elementary school he enrolled at the Military High School, and graduated with honors as a student of 20th class in 1993. That same year, he enrolled in the 50th Class Military Academy - Air Force Department, graduating in 1997. With his family - wife Gordana and sons Andreja and Stefan he lived in Belgrade.
