SEEGROUP visits MoD
In the ceremonial hall of the Central Military Club a meeting on the occasion of the visit of SEEGROUP (South East Europe Security Cooperation Steering Group) to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia was held yesterday.On behalf of the Ministry, the guests were welcomed by Assistant Minister for Defence Miroslav Jovanovic, and the meeting was opened by SEEGROUP Chair Kristina Milosavljevic.
Speaking about the priorities of the Ministry of Defence in international cooperation with NATO and the EU, Assistant Minister Jovanovic also highlighted the active cooperation of the Ministry of Defence in regional initiatives, agreements on defense cooperation with the majority of countries in the region, as well as great importance of our country to the preservation of peace in the throughout the world, as evidenced by the participation in peacekeeping missions across the globe.
Head of the Partnership for Peace Program Group of the International Military Cooperation Lt.Col. Miroslav Glisic, PhD spoke about the modalities of the cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and NATO within the Partnership for Peace framework, and the meeting was also an opportunity to announce upcoming activities in the process of cooperation.Following the meeting, Colonel Dragan Tatomir from the Strategic Planning Department of the Ministry of Defence, spoke about the activities of the Serbia-NATO Defence Reform Group, commenting on the general aspects of the reform of the defense system of our country and the goals of the ministry commitments in the Partnership for Peace.
Past results of cooperation with the Serbian Army and KFOR forces were presented to the audience by the Chief of the Committee for Implementation of the Military-Technical Agreement, SAF JOC Colonel Miodrag Popovic, stressing the importance of simultaneous patrols as an indicator of progress in cooperation.The final part of the meeting was reserved for guests’ questions.
