As part of continuing cooperation on the implementation of the initiative "Building Integrity and Reducing Corruption Risk in Defence ', a three-member team of NATO is visiting Belgrade.

Following the procedure of self-assessment, which had previously been carried out by the organizational unit of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, two rounds of expert talks were conducted (the first from 24 to 27 June and the second from 17 to 20 September 2012.) the aim of which was to perceive jointly the current state of integrity and potential risks of corruption in the defense system, which will result in a comprehensive analysis and recommendations to increase the efficiency of activity in these very important activities.

A three-member delegation of NATO experts on integrity building held talks with representatives of the Department for Supply, Material Resources Sector, the Inspectorate of Defence and Strategic Studies Institute of the Defence Policy Department. Interviews were also conducted with representatives of a number of Serbian state bodies: the members of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, the director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Ombudsman and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.

Cooperation on this project is implemented through the "Partnership for Peace Programme", and together with NATO, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian authorities responsible for the fight against corruption, the organization "Transparency International" (TI) also participates in the conference.
