Role of women in the security sector of Serbia



Organized by the Customs Department, the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defense and the UN Agency for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women UN WOMEN a three-day seminar that will address the question of the role of women in the security sector of Serbia began today.

Participants in the seminar are analytical groups and research teams monitoring and analyzing the implementation of the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia. These teams are from Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, Security and Intelligence agency, the Directorate for Execution of Criminal Sanctions of the Ministry of Justice, the heads of agencies that deal with statistics in these ministries and representatives of the multi-sectoral coordinating body of the Serbian government for the implementation of the NAP.

After the organization of the first seminar at the Ministry of Defense, in February of this year, this is the second seminar to educate members of the institutional bodies dealing with gender analysis of the security sector in the Republic of Serbia. Seminar will be organized in the framework of the implementation of the National Action Plan for the implementation of Resolution 1325 of the Security Council of the United Nations - Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia and its purpose is to strengthen the capacity and competence of employees, as well as support more efficient incorporation of a gender perspective in security sector reform.
