Construction of atheltics hall at the MA site starts



In the Palace of Serbia an agreement on the start of construction of the building athletic hall on the site of the Military Academy was signed today. The agreement was signed by Minister of Youth and Sports Alisa Maric and Chief of Belgrade Military Construction Centre Miroljub Colonel Nikolic, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

The signing was also attended by the President of the Athletics Federation of Serbia Veselin Jevrosimovic.

The initiative for the project was initiated by the Athletic Federation of Serbia, which will be the main user of the hall. Ministry of Youth and Sports is the bearer of the project, while the Ministry of Defence makes space for a complete infrastructure where the athletic hall will be built.

Minister Maric stressed that the priorities of the current sports development strategy are to develop top sports, school sports and sports infrastructure. Construction of the athletic hall of Belgrade combines all three priorities as a result of the joint efforts of the three partners - the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Defence and the Athletic Federation of Serbia.

- I believe that this act is a moment of historical significance for the Serbian sport and athletics. The dreams of generations will be turned into reality. I am honored that as Minister of Youth and Sports, I will participate in a project that will provide our athletes and our children with a brighter sports future, as minister Maric said.

Colonel Nikolic said that this was the continuation of cooperation between the two ministries and the Athletic Federation of Serbia.

With the construction of the hall we will a modern sports facility, and military academies will thus become one of the biggest athletic centers in Serbia, along with the courts held, Nikolic said.

The President thanked the Athletics Association, in its name and the athletes of Serbia, ministries that participated in the project to build athletic halls and, in gratitude, the Minister gave Maric a sweater with the Alliance logo.

The hall will be tailored to the needs of future users - the Military Academy and the Athletic Association and will be shut down first athletic hall of the region. It covers the area of 7200 square meters and will have a seating capacity of 1000, four runs and eight circular internal laps for running at 60m.
