In Zrenjanin exhibition "Poetics and the fate of the 20th Century" opens



Exhibition "Poetics and the fate of the 20th century" opened tonight at the National Museum of Zrenjanin. The exhibition presents a selection from the Collection of the Central Military Club, but the continuation of cooperation between the Media Center "Odbrana" and the National Museum of Zrenjanin, which started last year, when on the same day in Belgrade's military exhibition "Masters of Banat painting of 18 to 20 Century, "by Oliver Skoko, Zrenjanin museum curator.

The exhibition at the National Museum of was opened by Zrenjanin Mayor Mr. Ivan Bosnjak, and the ceremony was attended by the director of the Media Center "Odbrana" Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Markovic as well as Director of the Museum of Zrenjanin Vidak Vukovic, the exhibition curators, art historian Nikola Kusovac and Milorad Bubanja, former Head of the central Military Club gallery.

"In the next 1.5 months Zrenjanin will have the privilege to see in one place forty authors, great painters whose works marked the second half of the 20th century, Yugoslav painting, "said the director of the National Museum, Vidak Vidakovic, expressing the hope that the successful cooperation between these institutions and the Central Military Club , which he said were characterized by exceptional professionalism and precision, continue.

Director of the Media Center "Odbrana" Lt. Col. Slavoljub Markovic, speaking of Zrenjanin exhibition, reminded that the art collection of the Central Military Club’s gallery is celebrating its anniversary - 60 years of existence next year.

"I hope that by next year we will be able to fully catalogue our collection and present it to the public, and this is an opportunity for the citizens of Zrenjanin to see only a part of the rich collection and examine the intersection of Yugoslav and Serbian art of the late 20th century, "said Lt. Col. Slavoljub Markovic.

The exhibition in Zrenjanin comprises 46 works of 39 artists from the former Yugoslav area, including works of Vlah Bukovac, Jovan Bijelic, Ljubo Babic, Lazar Vujaklija, Ljuba Ivanovic, Petar Lubarda, Pedja Milosavljevic, Miodrag B. Protic, Marina Tartalj, Alexander Tomasevic, Kosta Hakman, Krsta Hegedusic, Marko Celebonovic, Sava Sumanovic and many others.

"ThemMasterpieces exhibited here together illustrate the power of a state that was serious and that could have a real serious collection," said Nikola Kusovac speaking about works stored in the Central Military Club. "In the very basis of this collection are the spirit and power of the Serbian people. Devastating wars that Serbia has survived spawned an institution of Serbian war painters. Their works are part of this collection, and represent the scope of painters from Triglav to Djevdjelija in the former Yugoslavia, "said Kusovac.

The Gallery of the art collection of the army, which has more than 1,500 items, mostly gifts of artists who exhibited their works one, or who participated in the art colonies in the organization of this institution. Some of works of art were at one period purchased for the decoration of the Military Clubs. Many of these works have never been exhibited and are unknown even to art historians.

The exhibition at the National Museum of Zrenjanin will be open to 10 October 2012.
