The meeting of minister Vucic with deuty PM of Russia Rogozin



First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vucic met in Moscow with Russia's deputy prime minister in charge of defense industry Dmitry Rogozin, and on this occasion received assurances from his the Russian colleague that the Russian Federation was ready to help the new Serbian government.

"Next week, the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation will start taking concrete steps towards establishing closer cooperation in the defense industry," said Deputy PM Vucic, adding that they talked about how to boost production in Serbian defense industry, to open new jobs in defense industry and how to modernize the Serbian Armed Forces.

"Cooperation on several levels has been agreed on. What was important for us and our defense industry was what we can offer Russian partners, what we can jointly produce and how we can jointly emerge on third markets," as Vice President Vucic said after the meeting. He said he would move the realization of these plans quickly, and that the level of cooperation between the Ministries of Defence of Serbia and the Russian Federation would be raised to a higher level.

He said that at a meeting in Moscow both political and other issues were discussed. "I think we agreed on some important things about the other areas, especially in the field of economy," said Vucic.

Minister Vucic said that this year the visit of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Anatoly Serdjukov is expected and added that "the benefits of cooperation between the two countries would be felt by all the citizens of Serbia, and in particular the defense industry."

He said that "for the first time in 12 years," Russian MIGs will appear in the air show on 2 September.

"Since me and Mr Rogozin are Deputy prime Ministers, we talked about all the important issues. Mr. Rogozin has shown remarkable friendship and affection for Serbia for which we are very grateful," said Vucic and expressed hope that Serbia will know how to repay this with its correct attitude, seriousness and responsibility.

During a visit to Russia Vice President Vucic will visit the facilities of the defense industry and learn about the development of the Russian Federation in the field.
