Marking the day of the Military Medical Service



Ceremony on occasion of the 30th July – the day of the Serbian Army Medical Service was held today in the amphitheater of the Military Medical Academy. The event was attended by the Serbian Army Chief of General Staff Lieutenant-General Ljubisa Dikovic.

Speaking about the rich history of the Medical Services in the region, but also on its organization today, the Chief of the Military Health Department Colonel prof. Zoran Popovic said that in our country military health system functioned with no problems.

Colonel Popovic commented on the most important activities that marked the year for us, especially singling out the changes made to SoVo Fund (Military Insurance Holders’ Fund), which as of 1 January this year, in the reorganization of the service, was integrated into the system of pension and disability insurance of the Republic of Serbia, and also mentioned the participation of military medical teams in peacekeeping operations around the world.

In order to provide a more efficient operation, as announced, a new health information system, which will greatly facilitate the monitoring of patient data will soon be introduced into the military health care system.

Today's ceremony was an opportunity to prsenet the award for the best achievement in the field of medical to Colonel prof. Dr. Dinu Tarabar for his textbook "Inflammatory bowel disease" in the field of gastroenterology. Following the ceremony, in honor of the anniversary, there was a promotion of the book'' Military medicine in the Balkan wars'' by Dr. Alexander Nedok.

Marking the Day of the military medical corps is linked to 30th July 1839 when based on the Constitution of the Principality of Serbia and the Regulation this service was established in garrisons, and Dr. Emmerich Lindenmajer was appointed chief doctor of the Serbian Army General Staff

Military Health Service is now a modern and functionally organized at primary (in units of the medical department of the Army of Serbia), secondary (Nis Military Hospital, Military Medical Center institutions and Belgrade Military Medical Center in Novi Sad) and at tertiary level (VMA)
