"Stanislav Bini?ki" Ensemble and Magnifico at the Lent Festival in Maribor
"Stanislav Bini?ki" Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence and one of the most popular Slovenian artists Robert Pesut, known as Magnifico, performed at the Lent Festival in Maribor on Fridaym, 6th July. Maribor is this year's European Capital of Culture, so the whole festival is in the spirit of this recognition.
Joint participation Magnifico and "Binicki" on the main stage of the festival lasted longer than the planned hour and a half because the performers returned for an encore and played five more songs.
The repertoire included music from one of the most watched films of Serbian cinematography "Montevideo, God Bless You", which was composed by the Slovenian musician and recorded with this ensemble. The ensemble performed under the baton of Pavle Medakovic and Major Igor Mitrovic.
In front of the full stands Manjifiko and "Bini?ki" performed 17 songs to which the audience responded with loud applause and standing ovations. "Just a little while", "Cha Cha Cha on the Drina", "Young shepherd", "Silvia" and "Little Miss" are just some of the songs that visitors to the main stage had pleasure to hear.
Conductor of the Artistic Ensemble "Stanislav Bini?ki" Pavle Medakovi? after his performance did not hide his delight with the concert and the reaction of the audience.
- The best reviews and evaluation of whether the concert was successful is the reaction of audience. We had an encore to come back and play a few songs, and the crowd made the atmosphere absolutely wonderful, Medakovi? said, adding that it is a big thing to make this step and perform in another country.
Collaboration with "Binicki" occurred before recording the music for the film, "Montevideo, God Bless You." Manjifiko points out that he was thrilled with the idea to record the music with a military orchestra, because it goes with the film of epochal contents.
- We fell in love soon. I figured that since we are so good why we would not work together performing around the region. This was our first concert and I am very happy because this is the beginning of our future cooperation, the Slovenian artist said, revealing to us that it has been planned to jointly record music for the second part of "Montevideo."
Lent Festival is the largest international festival in the open in Slovenia and one of the largest in Europe. It is held during June and July with a varied musical and cultural programme. This year it is being held at over 20 locations in Maribor.
On the last tour outside of Serbia, members of the "Stanislav Bini?ki" ensemble appeared just in Maribor 21 years ago.
