Students of the School of National Defence in Italy



Attendees of the 55th Class of General Staff Training and some of the teachers in the department of strategy and operational art began a four-day trip to the Republic of Italy. The delegation is led by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Igor Jovicic.

The participants of the study tour will during the next four days visit the Center for Advanced Defense Studies and the NATO Defense College, NATO Joint Force Command in Naples, Joint Operations Command OS of Italy, an air base Pratik di Mare, and missiles manufacturing company MBDA.

The visit began in Rome with a visit to the Embassy of Serbia in Italy where the Ambassador Ana Hrustanovic acquainted MoD and SAF delegation with the mission of the Embassy and the development of the traditionally good relations with the host country.

On the first day of the visit the attendees of the 55th GS training class visited the Center for Advanced Defense Studies in Rome. On this occasion, Lieutenant General Oracio Panatosa and his associates informed the guests about the mission, organization and courses undertaken at the Centre and the challenges they face in the training of officers at various levels of training.

The visit was complemented by exposes on the recently finished presentations of NATO member states Summit in Chicago, about the mission of the Atlantic Treaty Association, as well as on the topic: NATO and the Western Balkans. The participants were addressed by Fabricio Kolaseci, Chief of Department for NATO in the Italian ministry of foreign affairs, Giuseppe Belardeti, executive director and program manager of AAS and LTG . Giovanni Marica, a representative of the Atlantic Committee of Italy. In the second part the participants were addressed by Enrico La Loggia, President of the Atlantic Committee of Italy, who presented the activities of the Committee and Vice Admiral Ferdinando Sanfelice di Monteforte, president of the Military Committee in the Atlantic Committee of Italy, by giving an expose on Italy and Western Balkans.
