Handing over part of the barracks in Senta

Minister Sutanovac presented the president of the municipality of Senta Anika Sirkova keys and Minutes on the handover of barracks "11 November " built in 1933 with the money of the town of Senta.

Restoring the barracks provided by the contract of 1933 was signed by the city of Senta and the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Then the city government placed the barracks at army’s disposal, but the contract specifies that the facility will be returned to the city, without compensation, if the military is moved or if there is no need for the army barracks.

On that occasion, Sutanovac said that local governments already have an idea of development in this area represented by the potential and capacity, both for the development of the city and to resolve organizational issues of the Ministry of Defence.

- This is just one aspect of civil-military cooperation, because Serbia has a large number of barracks that were not promising, but given the capacity to develop local governments and cities, the minister said, adding that just today at the site the former barracks "Vojvoda Stepa Stepanovic" in Belgrade Ministry of Defence would hand in the keys of apartments to members of the defense system.

Mayor of Senta Anika Sirkova said the city would benefit from the return of the barracks, and that the municipality plans to buy another part of Senta barracks.

The barracks cover the area of 16.44 hectares, with 23 building, hangars, warehouses, park and sports ground.
