Minister hosts reception on occasion of SEECP conference

Defence Minister Dragan Sutanovac hosted a gala reception in the Central Military Club last night, occasioned by the meeting of Defence Ministers of state in the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) held on 11 and 12 April in Belgrade.

The reception was attended by Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic, State Secretaries of Defense, Assistants to Minister of Defense and the participants of the meeting - defense ministers and delegations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Turkey, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia, as well as the delegation of NATO, EU, OSCE, Regional Cooperation Council and the Center for Security Policy - RACVIAC.

On that occasion, Sutanovac welcomed the participants of the meeting.

- Our task is to develop regional cooperation and stability, because they truly believe in the cooperation of defense ministers and army in the region, which is the key to good cooperation. Since 2007, we have signed many agreements on cooperation in the defense system in the region and we believe that this is the way to develop good regional cooperation and maintain friendly relations- said Sutanovac.

He stressed that regional cooperation is to Serbia, along with European integration, the most important field of activity within its foreign policy.

The Ministry of Defence is truly trying to set such standards in the region that there is no doubt that the Serbian defense does not cooperate at the highest possible level - the defense minister said, adding that in South East Europe must build a good regional cooperation, as it will make all other forms of cooperation much simpler.

The topic of the meeting of defense ministers in the framework of SEECP which is chaired by Serbia this year is "Improving the level of cooperation in the region to address the issue of surplus weapons."
