"Large caliber rifles" exhibition in Batocina



Defence Ministry State Secretary Igor Jovicic opened the exhibition of the Military Museum in Belgrade "Large caliber military rifles" in the Cultural and Tourism Center "Dositej Obradovic" in Batocina. The exhibition is part of the event "Towards a new Serbian Army Day."

Exhibition was attended by Deputy Minister for Human Resources Major General Sladjan Djordjevic, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, the mayor of Batocina Radisa Milosevic, director of the Center "Dositej Obradovic" Jasmina Mladenovic, curator of the Military Museum in Belgrade and the author of the exhibition Vuk Obradovic and numerous visitors.

Opening the exhibition, State Secretary pointed out that the exhibition was a representative of the Military Museum providing an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with a collection of military rifles, which, in their own way, symbolized the previous time.

- In the event "Towards a new Serbian Army Day" back to the historical events of the 1815th when the decision was made about the beginning of the Second Serbian Uprising, led by Prince Milos Obrenovic, which was significant for the future development of Serbian statehood. The uprising is remembered for its symbolism and the time reflected the pride, courage and faith of the Serbian people in creating a modern state - said the State Secretary.

He added that the younger generation has a responsibility to provide maximum job contribution to the further development and prosperity of Serbia as a state of Serbian people and all citizens who live in it, based on the rule of law and social justice, principles of civil democracy, human and minority rights and freedoms, and commitment to European principles and values.

- This is a message from freedom-loving town in Sumadija Batocina, a city located on the main corridor of 10, the final combination of parts of northern and southern Europe. There is nothing more clear as to where we are to indicate to us the civilization and cultural values as a country and society to preserve and develop - said Igor Jovicic.

Director of Cultural and Tourist Center "Dositej Obradovic" Jasmina Mladenovic said that this institution has become a little "temple of culture" and that the exhibition was a major contribution towards achieving this goal.

Military Museum in Belgrade in the permanent site stores a number of interesting and important objects from military history, history of arms and military equipment. Among them the most attention attracted powerful large caliber rifles.

Visitors of the exhibition can be seen in Batocina Defense wall rifles of the era of black powder, anti-tank guns of World War II and modern sniper rifles. This exhibition "high-caliber military rifle" aims at presenting the development of such weapons, from the 16th century to today. The exhibition is open until 17 of April.
