Laying wreaths to defenders of Belgrade in April war 1941
In marking 71 years since the beginning of World War II and the bombing of Serbia and towns in Serbia, the delegation of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, led by Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac, laid a wreath at the Monument pilots defenders of Belgrade in April 1941.The delegation included the commander of Air Force Major General and Lieutenant Ranko Zivak and Dejan Joksimovic, commander of 98th aviation brigade.
Wreaths were placed on a monument erected on Zemun quay behind the Hotel Yugoslavia, with other delegations of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the City of Belgrade and several veterans' organizations and associations laid wreaths.
The aggression on Yugoslavia of Hitler's Third Reich armada under the name "Last Judgment" began on 6 April with an unannounced early morning bombing of cities, in which many civilians were killed. In the April 12-day war far outnumbered by the enemy our pilots of Kingdom of Yugoslavia which, in almost hopeless aerial combat, on the first day shot down several German planes. On that occasion VI fighter regiment was assigned to defend belgrade, which was located in Zemun and Prnjavor, with a total of 43 fighter aircraft.
