Informing foreign DAs



In the Ministry of Defense a regular information meeting of foreign military representatives accredited in our country was held on Friday. This meting was initiated by the defense attaches who assessed that the professionalization of the SAF had been a complete success.

The Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Human Resources, Brigadier General Djuro Celic in his opening statement on voluntary military service under arms, pointed out that the Sector for human resources of the ministry of defense is one of the main holders of the main duties in full professionalization of our armed forces.

The Armed Forces of Serbia have become a professional army, and recruiting professional soldiers is in the range from 90 to 92 percent in relation to the numbers of posts available. Bu abolishing compulsory military service all conditions for introducing voluntary service have been created.- said the general Djordjevic.


Colonel Dragoslav Lackovic, Chief of the Department of Defense Obligations, spoke about the details of Voluntary Military Service DAs. He stressed that abolishing compulsory military service does not mean abolishing the military service in general.

Colonel Lackovic spoke about making the plan for professionalization, its operationalization and sending men to do voluntary military service, as well as on training soldiers.

Because of the great interest foreign military representative Colonel Lackovic answered their numerous questions, such as the - which category of Serbian populations makes he main number of military conscripts, what their legal obligations are, which are the legal provisions for persons with dual citizenship with a registered permanent residence in the territory of our country and how military recruits have been called up in the previous two years, and how many are expected to be called this year.

In the end, foreign military representatives thanked their hosts for the quality information and stressed the importance of continued successful co-operation.
