Military cleared more than 35 kilometers of roads

At the moment, 17 members of the Serbian Armed Forces and nine engineering machines are engaged in clearing the snow in the snow-blocked parts of Serbia in municipalities of Sjenica, Vranje, Crna Trava and Nova Varos.

So far, more than 35 kilometers of road have been cleared in the areas of all the municipalities.

NOVA VAROS

Yesterday, during the early evening, two engineering machines (one dozer and one ULT) with two members of the 2nd Army Brigade arrived in Nova Varos.

The engineering machines have begun the cleanup early this morning, after a meeting with the representatives of the Emergency Planning Staff, Sergeant First Class Tomislav Jovanovic, Commander of the Task Group in Nova Varos, said.

"One machine is on the direction Bukovik village to Lepojevi?e village, which is nine kilometers long and the other is in the village of Jasenovo. For the time being the weather is on our side. The locals help us a lot, they guide us, because the roads are not visible due to the snow. We will do our best to clean the snow-blocked roads for the residents of Nova Varos as soon as possible", sergeant Jovanovic concluded.

SJENICA

Members of the 2nd Army Brigade with the engineering machines were among the first to come to help the population of the municipality Sjenica and the surrounding villages. Yesterday, they engaged another two engineering machines, so that at the moment, nine members of the 2nd Army Brigade with five engineering machines are clearing the roads in Sjenica. During the day, the task group has been engaged in clearing the roads in the areas of the villages of Štavalj, Brnjica, Zitnice, Raskovice, Kamenica, and Aliverovici and Medjugora. So far, about 25 kilometers of roads have been cleared in Sjenica.

VRANJE

Since 10 January, three members of the 4th Army Brigade with one engineering machine (ULT) and one truck TAM 110 have been engaged in cleaning the road direction Korbevac village – Kriva Feja village - Besna Mare resort. That engineering group is working with the engineering machine from the civil sector (dozer). So far, about five kilometers of road have been cleared .

CRNA TRAVA

Three members of the 3rd Army Brigade with one engineering machine (dozer) and one off-road motor vehicle have been engaged in cleaning the snow in the municipality of Crna Trava. During the day, about six and a half kilometers of roads were cleared in settlements of Milcina, Bakalci and Rasine.

Members of the 2nd Army Brigade, who are engaged in clearing the snow-blocked roads in the municipalities of Nova Varos and Sjenica, were visited today by the Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Milan Bjelica.
