Promotion of the book "Keeping up with the times"
It is a bilingual, Serbian-English monograph, a joint project of the Institute of Strategic Research and the Media Center "Odbrana", which offers scientifically substantiated information about the characteristics of women and their involvement in the MoD and the Serbian armed forces.
According to prof. Nevena Petrusic, one of the reviewers of the monograph, readers will be enriched with another pioneering work, whose even external characteristics, in terms of design, in their own way have a special symbolism.
-
She pointed out that this was a historiography valuable monograph, which offers a review of current gender regime in the army, thus disproving the stereotypes according to which military service is typically a male job.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Defence Professor Jan Marcek, this time in the role of a reviewer, spoke about the analysis of the structure of the monograph "Keeping up with the times", singling out in particular in the chapter which speaks of six traditional roles of women relating to the military.
He stressed that the aforementioned study is a synthesis of years of research aimed at understanding the adaptation of women in our military, adding that this book has a theoretical and an empirical component.
- With a desire make the noble military calling closer to young people in Serbia, during the summer the 2010 a production team was formed, headed by screenwriter Gordan Mihic who in cooperation with MoD and NIRA PRO production company, created a television series showing the life of MA and its cadets - said Slavica Djeric Magazinovic, the editor of the book. After the announcement, actors Odanovic Olga and Ivan Mihajlovic performed a sketch of the series that will start to be broadcast on 28th January 2012 on national television.
- I see this book as a testimony of what has been done in the past decade in SAF in the field of gender equality - said Zoran Kilibarda, author of the book.
- We moved through seven steps in this book, and we counted seven of them, seeing there was more material for future statements. AS the saying goes- when you move in the right direction all you have to do is to continue to move. So I can rightfully say that we are on the right track - concluded Dr. Jovaka Saranovic said.
