Cadet Parliament established at the University of Defense



At a constitution session of the chancery of the University of Defence a Cadet Parliament was formed. This body comprises 15 members, where cadets can exercise their rights and protect their interests at this military higher education institution.

On that occasion, Cadet Viktor Veres was elected the President of Parliament who is also a member of the Council of the University of Defense, while his deputy will be Jelena Katic.

At yesterday’s meeting the Cadet Vice-Chancellor was also elected, Vladimir Timotijevic who will during his term actively coordinate and cooperate with the Chancery, and with other cadets who perform various duties in that body.

Besides performing their daily duties, from now on these young people will represent the interests of 889 of their colleagues from the Military Academy and the Military Medical Academy School of Medicine, who have placed their trust in this body in hope that the student body can solve their problems more efficiently. In addition, cadets and cadets of the University of Defence can in this way establish cooperation with similar student bodies, the academic community of our country, as well as the Student Conference of Universities of Serbia (SKONUS), the highest student representative body in the academic community.

Speaking about the importance of this newly-established Cadet Parliament, the Chancellor of the University of Defence Major General Professor. Dr Miodrag Jevtic, who chaired the session, that this is the first time that such a body has been established.


- The Cadet Parliament will enable the cadets to advocate their rights and articulate them properly, and to put into practice what you have thought of. But keep in mind that such a choice carries certain obligations - General Jevtic said.

He also announced the establishment of a cadet research center, which will certainly contribute to the future and quality of scientific research of the University of Defence.

The meeting was attended by the members of the Chancery Staff of the MA and the Military Medical Academy School of Medicine.

Each year by secret ballot 12 cadets of the Military Academy
and three cadets at the Military Medical Academy will be chosen for the Cadet Parliament. The term of the members of the Cadet parliament starts with the first day of the constitution of the Cadet Parliament, and lasts for a year.
