Book on terrorism presented
The presentation of Professor Dr. Radoslav Gacinovic’s book, published by Media Center “Odbrana”, was held in the Ceremonial Hall of the Serbian Armed Forces Military Club.
The theoretical and practical considerations on terrorism and organised fight against that contemporary global plague were discussed by the author himself, as well as, by Professor Dr. Dragoljub Kavran, Dr. Darko Tanaskovic and Dr. Aleksandar Djurovic, in front of a large audience including not only professionals and experts in the field, but book fans as well. Presenting contemporary terrorism from various angles, above all from political, legal and security aspects, but also from the scientific standpoint, Professor Dr. Radoslav Gacinovic has added the chapter on police and armed forces’ antiterrorist measures, overview of terrorist organisations that are active world-wide and the portrays of the best-known terrorist to the first edition of his book. This certainly caused today terrorism experts’ further interest.
- The important value of the book “Terrorism in political and legal theory” lies in the fact that the author, apart from the numerous manifestations of terrorism today, also provided explicit ways of more or less efficient organised state fight against it, emphasised Professor Kavran, speaking about the time in which terrorism undoubtedly grows.
- With its complexity and many layers, the book provides answers to the most interesting questions regarding terrorism and antiterrorist fight today, giving directions regarding possibilities of the efficient fight against manifestations of the terrorist organising and actions; and explains the reasons due to which it is difficult to deal with terrorism, says Professor Kavran.- From theoretical and applied point of view, Dr. Gacinovic’s book deals with terrorism as a manifestation of one of numerous conflicts in today’s world, thinks Prof. Dr. Darko Tanaskovic.
– He managed to achieve balance between the theoretical and applied, to explain the influence of the spirit of time on the emergence and expansion of terrorism, but also to present the main methods in the fight against that evil, in whose roots the globalisation lies. That is why the author, analysing terrorism, completely objectively and scientifically, emphasises the globalization influence on its development, free of the constraints of “political and other types of correctness”, launched by the great powers, which demand one-way and uniform viewing and assessing of terrorism. Caused by globalization, terrorism demands a global answer, believes Professor Tanaskovic.
In a specific manner, with a sermon on Serbia in contemporary times, Colonel Professor Dr. Aleksandar Djurovic spoke about Professor Gacinovic’s book. In the end, the author also spoke about his work. At the end of the presentation, the author thanked Media Center “Odbrana” and all those who participated in the production of the book as well as colleagues and guests who were present.
