Scholarships for specialization of members of defence system



Professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence civil servants, who received scholarships for further education in extramural studies of the second and third degree, signed today in the Sector for Human Resources scholarship contracts. On behalf of the Defence Ministry, the contracts were signed by Brigadier General Sladjan Djordjevic, Assistant Minister for Human Resources.

Out of 117 applications, 16 applicants have been chosen following the evaluation of applications. Three scholarships have been allocated for the second degree studies, and thirteen for the third degree studies.

- In the last couple of years, we have conducted significant reforms in this field, so as to provide equal conditions to all candidates and form transparent, efficient and economical system, which would enable specialization to the best candidates who fulfil all requirements – Brigadier General Djordjevic said, stressing that knowledge is the power of our future, which would help the society overcome crisis.

Brigadier General Djordjevic added that all specialization studies have to be in accordance with the defence system’s needs.

- Following a detailed analysis and assessing the system’s needs, educational-scientific fields and expert areas, in which members of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) would specialize, are incorporated in the Syllabus of personnel education and specialization for this year. In line with the Syllabus, the call for applications, which all interested members of MoD and SAF can submit, is then announced – Brig. Gen. Djordjevic explained the process of receiving scholarships.

Candidates, who applied for specialization, have finished all additional tests and satisfied necessary requirements to receive scholarships for civil specialization at the expenses of the Ministry of Defence.

- It has already been decided to which positions the scholarship holders would be appointed upon finished their specializations; and this is why exactly those specializations are important for the performance of their further professional duties within the system of defence – Brigadier General Djordjevic concluded.
