Celebration of the Day of the Central Logistics Base



The Day of the Central Logistics Base was marked with a ceremony today at the Command of the unit. The meeting was attended by the Serbian Chief of General Staff General Miloje Miletic and his associates, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, as well as numerous guests.

- There is no good army without a good military logistics. No unit can exist without it nor can the slightest task be executed when its logistics fails. You are the people who are not the talked about often, and your work is least visible, your work is not seen publicly, you are not mentioned in the media, but you are constantly working. And when a unit goes to a shooting exercise and performs well the tasks, when the exercise is estimated as successful , we laud the training, honor commanders, yet no one seems to mention that logistics units were the ones which provided food, clothing that someone had to transport the manpower, ammunition brought up to scratch, that technical capabilities did not fail but were running smoothly. That is often forgotten. Therefore, I would particularly like to point out your work and to honor everything you did in the period behind us, - said the Serbian Army Chief of General Staff Gen. Miloje Miletic at the ceremony.

General Miletic also mentioned the most important tasks that are placed before the central logistics base in the period between the two holidays, and particularly emphasized as an important success the final elimination of all ordnance from open space. He noted that much has been done in the organizational improvement of the Central Logistics Base, to optimize distribution of resources in the database, the number of locations and warehouses in which material resources were stored has been reduced, especially those that have become cost-ineffective.

The Chief of General Staff and reminded them of upcoming tasks, which pose a great professional challenge both for management of logistics and the command of the Central Logistics Base – that is building a logistics information system and a new logistics distribution center.

Speaking about the results of the members of the Base achieved in the past year, Brigadier General Goran Zekovic, Base Commander, said that in addition to the disposal of all ordnance from the open space until June 2011, the Base managed to manipulate the some 12,000 tons, and by sales and disposal reduce number of allocated storage facilities for about five, while another facility is undergoing closing.

Mod and SAF have facilities have with more than 6,000 items in stock and over 73,000 spare parts from mixed storages, based on contracts some about $ 1.5 million of weapons have been delivered. Via a tactical bearer of the work, and based on contracts agreed upon a total of 340 vehicles have been deemed redundant and sold, as compared to last year is n increase by some 31 percent. We managed to sell the surplus of movable assets through scrap compounds which have been declared redundant, thus relieving the unit of some1, 200 tons of scrap weapons, and the sales incurred at the end of September about 73 million RSD. Members of the bases managed to transport 51,773 tons of cargo, 89,566 people crossed the 2,256,000 kilometers, and motor vehicles and means of transport are put in 24,500 hours.

General Zekovic reminded that members of the base had in the previous period provided logistical support for numerous events such as exercise "Graduate 2011" and "Sretenje 2011", "Joint Response", the arms and military equipment fair "Partner", then secured the graduation ceremony for cadets of the Military Academy, the exhibits of paintings by Sava Sumanovic, Pavle Beljanski at the Central Military Club, geodetic Military Geographical institute and the Republic Geodetic Authority and others.

The commander of the Central Logistics Base Commander said that the unit has been rejuvenated by seven young lieutenants and second lieutenants.

The Central Logistics Base presented a memorial plaque this year to Col. Dr. Jugoslav Radulovic, director of Technical Repair Institute Kragujevac. On the occasion of the day of CLB, deserving individuals got prizes.
