Seminar on distance learning



In the Home Guards in Topcider a seminar on distance learning was held in the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, which was attended by numerous experts in the field of application of modern information technologies in education.

On behalf of the Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac, the seminar was opened by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Igor Jovicic, who, welcoming participants and guests of the seminar stressed the importance of continuing professional education of members of the Army.

- The platform for distance learning, has enabled practically all professional members of the Serbian Army to have the same conditions for career-long training course, and later, wherever they may be, in educational centers, barracks, or in peacekeeping operations around the world. This is a culmination of five years of efforts of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia in implementing the distance learning project, complying to the agreements on bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, achieved with the support of the Government of Norway, said Igor Jovicic.

The Vice Dean of the MMA Colonel Boban Djorovic spoke about the objectives of the conference which, in addition to the many members of different organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff of Serbia, was also attended by experts on modern information technology from civilian who. Colonel Djorovic stressed as the most important the place and role of modern information technology in meeting the increased need for permanent education of professional members of the Serbian Army.

- Distance learning in foreign armies has been present for some time now and is not a novelty, even in neighboring countries. Now the Serbian Army has its own "virtual academy" that allows professionals and those members of the Serbian Army, who, due to their working hours and workload, cannot come to educational centers and regularly attend classes, use all literature available, as well as have consultations with teachers and preparation interactively for exams, as Colonel Djorovic stated.

Participants from several MOD and the SAF departments, as well as other organizational units of the Army and the MoD were able to learn more about the Center and the simulation and distance learning, and Lt. Col. Simic, the Head of the Center, spoke of this.

- This highly sophisticated platform for distance learning enables more efficient implementation of interactive courses of different levels, but also the educational process in university and master studies at the Military Academy. The importance of electronic learning in the education of professional members of the Serbian Army has long proven itself, and now, and with the realization of the modern platform it has gained new momentum, said Lt. Col. Simic.
