Poetics and fate of 20th c exhibition opened in Novi Sad

The exhibition "Poetics and the fate of 20th Century "was opened last night at the Memorial collection of Pavle Beljanski in Novi Sad. It represents a continuation of cooperation between the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski and Media Center "Odbrana", which started by the exhibition "Collection of Pavlr Beljanski: Back in Belgrade."

Art Collection of the Army of Serbia consists of more than 1,500 exhibits, and the audience at this show will have the opportunity to enjoy the 50 rarely exhibited works 42 well-known artists, including Bukovac, Jovan Bijelic, Ljubo Babic, Lazaar Vujaklija, Peter Lubarda, Pedja Milosavljevic, Sreten Stojanovic, Kosta Hakman, Marko Celebonovic, Sava Sumanovic and others. It is the authors and works that are close to the concept of collections of Paul Beljanski.

The exhibition was opened by the writer Radoslav Petkovic, Assistant Secretary of Culture and Information of AP Vojvodina, and guests were welcomed by Head of the Memorial collection of Pavle Beljanski Jasna Jovanov, PhD, Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Defence Colonel Petar Boskovic, and director of the Media Center "Odbrana" Lt. Col. Slavoljub Markovic.

- Most authors whose work you can see at the exhibition, are featured in the collection of Paul Beljanski, so this is a new insight into what he created and collected during his fruitful diplomatic and collector's life. This exhibition is a continuation of cooperation with the Media Center "Odbrana" because the Central Military Club houses part of our collection - said at the opening of Dr. John Clear.

Colonel Petar Boskovic said that he was pleased to see that the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia host the memorial collection of Paul Beljanski.

- These exhibitions are, to say the military terms, compatible with authors present in both collections. If you had the chance to see Petar Lubarda’s work in its first stage in Pavle Beljanski collection, now is your chance to see Lubarda’s works in the second stage. Travelling through the artistic area of Belgrade and Novi Sad is the privilege of "prisoners" of art. Works from the exhibition of Media Center "Odbrana” were collected by top officers of the former Yugoslav Army, and later the Serbian armed forces- said Colonel Boskovic, adding that he hoped that a similar journey through the art of Belgrade and Novi Sad would always be a two-way journey

Lt. Col. Slavoljub Markovic said that the idea to present these works from this institution in Novi Sad, have originated from Jasna Jovanov,
- This is the first time that our collection has been presented outside the main house. Since Media Center “Odbrana” was established only 1, 5 years ago, for me as the director it was a revelation when I saw what the club’s depot hides. These works were presented on two occasions in the Night of Museums – as Lt. Col. Markovic said and added that the presentation of the artworks from the collection of Media Center's "Odbrana” will continue in other cities in Serbia.

Collection of the central Military Club was formed mainly from gifts of artists who have exhibited in the gallery for decades. On this occasion these valuable works were first exhibited in a number outside the main house. Exhibition in Novi Sad is the beginning of the exhibition tours in museums, galleries and other cultural institutions in Serbia. The audience will be setting in Novi Sad power that looked to 11 of December.
