Marking the day of Construction Services
The Day of Construction Services, 8 November, was celebrated in the premises of the Ministry of Defence. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Directorate for Property, Building Directorate of Serbia, the Tax Administration, Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia, as well as numerous guests.
Speaking to the present Chief of the infrastructure Colonel Goran Dimic,MA construction engineer pointed out that in the Department of Infrastructure has been marked by urban planning."About ten major urban plans have been launched which will hopefully be completed by the end of this year. They reflect the activities and intentions in building the infrastructure for defense purposes. In the past 4 years in the field of construction, modification, reconstruction, rehabilitation and capital maintenance approximately 1000 high-rise buildings worth some 100 million euros have been completed, said Col. Dimic.
He said great results had been achieved in the field of conversion of military property, primarily through the implementation of the Master Plan. Through alienated 40 military complexes, we accrued some 10 million EUR and 300 apartments. The total value of all contracts is about 110 million euros, which are to be constructed in the next five years.
"It must be admitted that these significant results could not have been achieved without great understanding and unconditional support of civil authorities and organizational structure of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia. The Directorate for Infrastructure will in future continue the positive trend of construction, its focus being on building a logistics center in Nis, military bases and in Jakovo and Komren, complete conversion of Morava airports, and completion of other projects initiated ", underlined in his address Colonel Dimi?.Apart from MoD and SAF members, 8 November is celebrated by architects and city planners around the world as the International Day of Urban Planning. This day is marked by opening exhibition salons of architectural and urban developments around the globe as well as by presenting awards and recognitions for achievements in architecture and urbanism.
