Minister Sutanovac meets with the UK Minister for Europe Lidington
Minister Sutanovac met today with David Lidington, the UK Minister for Europe.
Sutanovac informed the guest of the reforms in the defense system, the process of professionalization of the Serbian Armed Forces, reminding that the process of professionalization had been highly commended in the Europe Commissions’ report on Serbia’s obtaining the candidacy status, which is published by the European Commission in early October this year.Lidington Minister reiterated his strong support that the Great Britain was giving to Serbia’s aspiration to achieve the candidacy status for EU membership, while stressing the importance of clearly defined conditions for the process. Minister Lidington and Minister Sutanovac agreed that the main importance of this process is to achieve the European standards and values, especially at a time when Europe is still very cautious with respect to further enlargement.
Minister Lidington particularly welcomed the inclusion of Serbia in the common security and defense policy of the EU and sending Serbian officers into the EU mission “Atalanta”, as a contribution to the overall process of European integration of Serbia.
