Lebanon 2011 exercise starts



The five-day exercise on the map "Lebanon 2011", its theme being strategic transport planning and the deployment of the Serbian Armed Forces contingent in the multinational operation in Lebanon, began today at the GS Centre for Peacekeeping Operations.

The bearer of the exercises is Joint Operations Command, and the exercises involve 98 members from all organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff. The result of the exercise will be an operational plan, for the purpose of preparing, organization and realization of the mission.

A particular goal of the exercise is improving capacities for coordination between organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff, who will work together to help reach a single solution when it comes to the deployment of the Serbian Army contingent in multinational operations.

The exercise seeks to make an initial operating plan and acting under the directives of the Minister of Defence send a SAF contingent in the mission in Lebanon, and the deadline is 2012.

Another task of the VEKAR "Lebanon 2011” exercise is developing standard procedures for strategic planning and the use of contingent Serbian Army in multinational operations in general starting from the initiation of political engagement, involves the developing and proposing a plan of use, parliamentary procedure, the decision by the President of the Republic of Serbia, of a decision, and planning to implement the expert members of the Joint Operations Command of the Group for operational planning.
