Marking the Day of Stanislav Binicki art ensemble



Concert of the Ministry of Defence art ensemble "Stanislav Bini?ki" on the occasion of 112 years of its establishment, was held last night in the SAF Central Military Club. This music academy was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, many distinguished figures from the world of music and culture, and the audience.

In honor of Stanislav Binicki, a great artists whose name the ensemble bears, the musicians inspired by his work and the Serbian tradition performed the works of our and foreigncomposers. The guests had the opportunity to enjoy such songs as Tamo daleko ("Far Away"), "Prayer" from the opera "Tosca", "the Road of the Cossacks," "Someone like you", "Ti zivis u oblacima mala," "Ako tebe ljubit ne smem ljubit", "Fonikuli" as well as the famous "March on the Drina", which was composed by Binicki himself.

The concert was made even greater by such performers as- Merima Njegomir, Zarko Dancuo, Tino Favaca, Jelena Jovicic, Ekstra Nena, Dusko Svilar, Biljana Vasiljevic, and Mirjana Konjikovac, Dragi Dzinic and Andjela Ilic. The program was hosted by Dusica Spasic, an anchor from RTS, and the conductor was Igor Mitrovic and Pavle Medakovic, while the guest conductor was Vojkan Borisavljevi?. The culuture club Lola presented their medley of Sumadija folk dances and reels.

The art ensemble was founded as "the Belgrade First Symphony military band" on 26th September 1899, by the order of King Aleksandar Obrenovic. One of the founders of the orchestra was Stanislav Binicki, a composer, conductor, organizer of musical life in Serbia and the author of the first Serbian opera "Na kladencu ( At the well)"
