Dismantling the pontoon bridge on Lido
Members of the first pontoon Battalion of the River Flotilla today disassembled the pontoon bridge at Zemun beach "Lido". The 362 meter long pontoon bridge connected connecting Lido famous beach on the Veliko Ratno ostrvo with the Zemun quay since 15 June.According to Lieutenant Colonel Sinisa Marinkovic, battalion commander, 50 professional members of the unit took part in disassembling the pontoon bridge, pointing out that with today's bridge complete dismantling means complete fulfilling of the agreement signed between the Ministry of Defense and the Zemun municipality.
The citizens watched from the bank soldiers dismantling the bridge, with great interest, emphasizing the importance of the bridge during the summer months which enabled them to find retreat from the heat at the island. The citizens wished the soldiers safe return hoping to see them again next summer on the beach of Lido to enjoy the nature of the Island.The pontoon battalion members after the dismantling of the bridge have a two-day trip in trailers upstream the Sava River upstream towards Sabac where they will return to the barracks.
